In my third year of university animating dialogue was something I really wanted to practice. In the early days of the course the briefs were tighter as you were being guided. Later on however the briefs became a lot more...well...brief. This opened up chances for practicing different aspects of animation as you could pretty much make the brief whatever you wanted it to be. Here is an example of one of my earlier dialogue pieces from my second year of university.
I really wasn't pleased with how it came out. I decided to practice animating dialogue a lot more regularly [on the weekends for example]. I was determined to get my head around it. I tried animating to shorter pieces of dialogue in the hopes that a faster turnaround would allow my to animate more shots and learn more from it. Bellow is a progression of my most recent attempt at dialogue. Due to technical difficulties I had to convert the blocking into splined tangeants to allow me to playblast them.
And here is the final version.
